When Kenyans learn riot lessons from Narendra Modi
January 6, 2008 by CyberGandhi
Now Narendra Modi started to speak about justice to minorities ! Alas! He is the idiotic ruler who cannot protect the lives of Muslim minority in his own state. It is the same guy who unofficially ordered elimination of Muslims from Gujarat state to his own state police officers.
Now he talk about sanatana dharma because his hindutva companions lost business firms during Kenyan riots. There are approximately 100,000 Indians living in Kenya, of which nearly two-thirds are Gujaratis. Modi is now voicing concern over the safety of about 1000 Gujaratis because they are his hindu brothers who have taken shelter in a Swaminarayan temple in Kisumu.
India’s Hitler, Narendra Modi says:
“I request the Indian Government to immediately beef up security for our Indian brothers in Kenya. They should be allowed to move to safer areas without any hitch, keeping in mind their Indian blood”.
The Indian government is willing to issue urgent visas to Kenyan Indian who want to come to back to India. But going by the past performance and looking at India’s fake economic boom, Kenyan Indians prefer to go to Britain, Canada or the US where they have their children or relatives.
In the 1890s, the Britain recruited Indian laborers to build the Kenya Uganda Railway from Mombasa to Kisumu. Later many Indians decided to stay on and work on the railways in the region. After independence, most of them opted for British passports than a Kenyan citizenship. They stamped VISA of Kenya to live and work in the country. In 1968, Britain announced a new rule to stop the entry of these Kenyan Indian passport holders. Then the majority of them came back to their respected colonial masters, Britain. In 1972, Idi Amin threw out all Indians from neighboring Uganda.
There are about 43,000 Gujaratis in Nairobi and about 3,000 in Kisumu, the worst-hit town. Kenya-based Indian business community, mostly Gujaratis, is estimated to have suffered losses worth about Rs 500 crore or one billion shillings in the ongoing ethnic violence.
Almost three out of every four businesses owned by Indians have been burnt down, Ever since post-election riots broke out in Kenya. Indians have been targeted because they are close to president Mwai Kibaki’s ruling Party of National Unity (PNU).
Business establishments owned by Indians were looted and charred by the rioters, particularly in Kisumu. Most Indians living in Kisumu have moved to safer places like Nairobi and Uganda. Kenya witnessed one of its worst riots after president Mwai Kibaki of Party of National Unity (PNU) was declared the winner on December 30 last year. Supporters of the opposition party Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) launched protest in parts of Kenya with Raila Odinga refusing to accept defeat and alleging that the polls were rigged with the help of Indian migrant Gujaratis.
CyberGandhi: Your statement “Almost three out of every four businesses owned by Indians have been burnt down, Ever since post-election riots broke out in Kenya. Indians have been targeted because they are close to president Mwai Kibaki’s ruling Party of National Unity (PNU).” is patently untrue if you are referring to the entire country of Kenya.
If you are referring to Kisumu alone, then you may be closer to the truth, but then again, there are very few other ethnicities own businesses in Kisumu.
As a Kenyan I can tell you that Kenyan Indians were not targeted in these riots. And, we certainly did not need lessons from anyone to engage in our disgraceful display of barbarism.
Kenya will recover, everybody will be safe, we just have a political impasse to negotiate.
We thank you for your concern.

This exposes modi’s hypocrisy..
But at the same time my hearts go out for victims of violence,
be it anyone anywhere…
Hope something is done to help the Gujaratis in Kenya at the end of violence. It must be indeed a horrble time for them,
just like the victims of Modi’s rioteers.
